More than a year of preparation and work is behind us. The Carezza Organising Committee and the Standing Committee have worked until the very end - even accepting special security requirements and procedures - to organise the Interbancario 2022.
The conclusion that an event like the Interbancario cannot take place in the current pandemic situation is all the more bitter. So after 2021 also the 2022 Ski Meeting Interbancario Europeo is cancelled.
We have not taken the easy way out. We had adapted the event programme to the special circumstances in autumn for safety reasons: The evening events with prize-giving and entertainment programme were cancelled, as were the opening races on Sunday. All competitions would have had to comply with comprehensive security requirements and procedures. We would have been prepared for that.
The reasons for the cancellation are mainly due to the development of the pandemic situation in South Tyrol and throughout Europe. The number of infections in South Tyrol and Italy is high and continues to rise, as it is in other European countries. South Tyrol is classified as a yellow zone and is moving closer to being classified as an orange zone. Existing restrictions on public life (visiting bars, restaurants, etc.) could become even more severe. It is almost impossible to predict the infection situation in January 2022.
An event like the Interbancario, with many participants from many parts of Europe, during the ongoing pandemic wave would expose participants and organisers to high risks.
Cancellation of hotel bookings:
Those teams and participants who have booked a hotel can cancel this booking free of charge within 20 December 2021. Any deposits paid will then be refunded by the hotels.
And now the good news. The Standing Committee and the Carezza Organising Committee are already working on the Interbancario from 22 to 27 January 2023.
